Link Fan Art!

Felt like doing a Legend of Zelda sketch recently. Maybe because I’m really psyched for the new game coming out this month! Inked this with a Kuretake brush pen, and colored in photoshop.
So this Link isn’t from any particular game, but I guess you could say he’s from Link to the Past because of the 3 pendants I added. My favorite Zelda game is either Link to the Past or Link’s Awaking, and since they both have the same Link, let’s roll with that.

And because Link’s Awakening was so awesome, here’s a version with a Super Game Boy color scheme.

"No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!"

Alright guys, got another Bond villain for you! Auric Goldfinger in his towel-suit from the pool scene in Goldfinger.

I thought about drawing him during the laser scene, but after watching St. Cloud from Venture Bros. wear the same pool outfit during Spanakopita, I couldn't resist.

Also, Sean Connery had some of the best villains. Everything about Goldfinger was awesome. The gold theme, the weapon, the lair, the speech... Don't worry though, I'll save you from any golden-era puns. Even I'm not that awful.

Villain Challenge!

Hey guys! Back with the next James Bond villain! Today is Rosa Klebb in her maid outfit, seen in From Russia With Love.

You may remember her as the woman with poison-tipped knives hidden in her shoes that retract. It may not seem like too crazy of a weapon, but think of how iconic they've become. Gustav Graves had the giant laser in space (Die Again Another Day), but Klebb's dangerous shoes are more memorable.

Also, when I showed people the work in progress, almost everybody shuddered at her appearance. Well she got to spend all day training muscular men wearing nothing but hand cloths around their wastes, so I like to think she was comfortable with how she looked.

Speaking of villains with iconic weapons, next up will be Goldfinger.

New Challenge!

Aloha! So I've been reworking character designs for a story of mine that is heavily influenced by the James Bond series. As a little challenge to myself, I'll be drawing every main Bond villain, along with a few unique henchmen (like Jaws).

I'm starting this thing off with Dr. Julius No, from the first film, Dr. No. I'm not the biggest fan of the movie, but Dr. No is a pretty awesome Bond villain. Mad scientist, mechanical hands, a sleek and simple jumpsuit, and an awesome underwater lair. Awesome way to kick this off.

I have a feeling that this challenge is going to be a blast to draw. If it works out, I might move on to Bond actors and Bond girls when I finish.

Go Team Venture! Just in time for the season V premiere, too! In case you're going to be at Heroes Con this weekend, I'll have this as an 11"x17" print for sale, along with a few new books I'm debuting. Awesome!

A drawing is afoot!

Felt like drawing BBC’s Sherlock today. I’m really digging this new Kuretake 13 brush pen that I recently picked up, which I used to ink the whole thing. And Benedict Cumberbatch is a lot of fun to draw. Those cheek bones!

March Art Challenge, GOOO!

Aloha, dudes and dudettes! So I’ve issued a challenge to myself for the month of March. One of my favorite Nintendo franchises is F-Zero, so I’m challenging myself to draw each one of the racers from the roster! There are 30 racers from F-Zero X, so that’s one a day, and I’ll come up with something cool for March 31st. The characters are rarely seen out of their vehicles, so my intention is to focus more on their outside lives.

So I’m kicking this off with racer 01, Mighty Gazelle! The dude got in a wicked crash during the SNES F-Zero, and ended up with a robotic body. If you beat F-Zero X with him, he holds up a photo of his old body (I know this because he was always one of my favorite racers). Also, he’s in the background in the comic found in the SNES game manual.

Tomorrow, racer #2, Jody Summer!
